My Woman’s Day Article!

If you haven’t picked up a copy of this weeks Woman’s Day you should, you may just find a story about me! I am also going to be getting a makeover on a new show called Kiwi Living airing this Friday night (10 July) at 7.30 pm on TV1. I will be in the first episode of the show and besides the fact I’m in it I think it’s going to be a great show.

There’s just a couple of things in the Woman’s Day article that I would like to set you straight on:

  1. I started at a size 26 not a size 16. Which explains why I’ve struggled so much with finding my way with my new size.
  2. I didn’t receive any formal counselling but did a lot of mental adjustment before my surgery which has been so important.
  3. “Anything with too much sugar or fat will cause major damage.” I wouldn’t put it like that myself but it can cause Dumping Syndrome which I have written about on my blog here.

Unfortunately, if you go through the public system formal counselling isn’t part of the process yet. I really think it would be beneficial as so much of the hard work and challenging stuff is centred around mental battles not physical ones necessarily.

Woman's Day Article

I had so much fun shooting for both Woman’s Day and Kiwi Living and gosh I could get used to getting my hair and makeup done every morning! These were both really great opportunities to present weight loss surgery in a positive light in the media. Too often weight loss surgery is talked about in a negative light by people who haven’t even experienced it themselves.

Let me know if you have read the article or watched the episode of Kiwi Living and what you thought in the comments below I’d love to chat.

Thanks for clearing that up. Haha although I was sure you weren’t a 16 haha. Just for you and any others reading this. See a physiologist is mandatory for private patients with Dr michael booth. Only one session but I agree with you that you should have more. I’ve contemplated going a couple of times since my first visit but funds wise it is too expensive. But I believe would be very beneficial.

I haven’t read the article yet (I don’t normally pick up magazines) but that’s a great photo of you! Funny how often they seem to get the finer details wrong, but thank you for the corrections. It sounds like an amazing journey you’ve been on.
